DJ Mesta

World reknown club specialist, DJ and Italian native, DJ Mesta has been playing for a number of years, hosting parties & club around the globe, earning the title “Italy’s finest”. Celebrities like Prince Albert of Monaco danced to his sets. DJ Mesta creates magic on the dancefloor.

The music DJ Mesta plays and produces reflect his name, an eclectic mix of sounds ranging from street to mainstream, from urban to dance, from house to electro, and from Latin to tropical music.  It's a blend of classics, hits, remixes, hard to find, mash-up, transitions, edits, party breaks, innovative techniques and sound efx: it's a real "mesta" (ancient Latin word for mix).

In his early days, his Djing included clubs and mixtapes, in fact he pioneered the mixtape in Italy. As his reputation grew he started promoting Hip Hop and R&B club nights throughout the country. Dj Mesta outgrew the Italian music scene so he ventured on to greater heights and moved to London where he teamed-up with top Hip Hop Djs like Kofi (DMC UK champ/Gorillaz) and Shortee Blitz (Kiss fm/UK’s Best Hiphop Dj), opening nights for established international acts such us The Roots.

DJ Mesta established himself as a major UK tape-master and was soon selling mixtapes and Djing throughout Europe while working as a freelance record distributor and promoting records or looking after acts for Hardzone Promotions.

In 1997 Dj Mesta started a HNC course in Radio Production and Broadcasting which enabled him to think seriously about a career in broadcasting. Shortly after starting the course he began working for the Italian radio station Station One as UK correspondent. He also had a mix-show on Bristol station Passion fm and London Unique fm, while writing for AL, Italy's number one Hip Hop magazine and freelancing for various publications such as Echoes, the world’s largest black music weekly.
Around 1998 Dj Mesta decided to strengthen the connection with his native country by booking tours for UK acts such as 57th Dynasty, promoting records and, of course, Djing.By the end of 1999 came the final decision: he decided to move back home with the ambition of becoming the top Italian connection for Urban music. In Italy Mesta created the Freestyle Arena tour, the 1st ever national freestyle rap contest. After managing Palazium night club in Torino and promoting live PA's featuring US Hip Hop pioneers like Doug E Fresh and Masta Ace, Dj Mesta launched the Money Game Record Pool. Mesta now heads digital distribution service and owns Silverado night club, famous for hosting celebrity underground DJs like Seth Troxler.

Mesta is currently "killing" Italy's clubland Djing all-over the country, doing no less than 3clubs per week with steady residencies in Torino’s top VIP clubs.Dj Mesta has been busy on the international club scene landing gigs as far as the Middle East, like this year at Music Revolution Festival in Jordan where he spinned in Amman for the 2nd time. One of the many remarkable parties that got Mesta praised by promoters for his outstanding “crowd reading” skills was the set at China White - London’s top celebrity club. The promoters ended up booking Mesta for a second set, a constant behaviour by promoters worldwide. Same thing happened at the Mix club in Paris.

It all blowed up in 2007 with gigs all the way to Croatia and a one month tour across Nigeria, just after headlining La Bomba UK #1 reggaeton event at the world famous Ministry of Sound in London & later on at Pacha. Among the many legendary European parties, Mesta djed at the official Midem Urban party (Cannes, France) in honor of Rocafella's Jay Z and ending up spinning records for rapper Coolio.A&R at Selecta/Motivo, Mesta was nominated “Best International Mixtape Dj” at Justo’s Mixtape Awards (NYC).

Also busy on radio, Dj Mesta is known for his Full Blast Mixshow: originally a daily Hip Hop/RnB/Dancehall/Reggaeton specialist radio show on Radio Flash 97.6 Torino, Full Blastthen became a mixshow broadcasted first on Hitchannel and later on RTL TV 102.5 (3.000.000 daily viewers) while being syndacated worldwide and podcasted on iTunes. DjMesta also co-hosted the TV show Bravi Ragazzi (=Goodfellas) on RAI 2, officially breaking Latin Urban videos & street culture on Italian National TV for the very first time in history. Mesta then moved to host his own TV shows: BJ Zone on Blue Jeans TV (Urban/Electro) and Reggaeton Live on Màs Latina TV.

Mixing records and producing beats for over 15 years, Dj Mesta has developed a unique sound based on simplistic techniques, good taste and innovative skills. Drafted as the the one & only Tech.Nition in Italy, Dj Mesta is now member of the US based Bumsquad DJz founded by Latin Prince (Universal) while also joining the Nigerian DJs and De La Ghetto’s Masacre DJ’s .

One of the first European Hip Hop DJs to play & produce Reggaeton, Mesta is currently in the studio mixing production work for the many artists he’s collaborating with from all over the globe. After hitting DJs with crowd acclaimed party-breaks like Avicii’s “Party Levels”, hot singles like MTV Tr3’s winner “Noche Europea”, official remixes for establishedacts like Pitbull and Adina Howard, expect more crossover bangers featuring Mesta’s distinctive club sound while capturing that “magic” that defines Mesta’s club parties. It’s arefined mix of House, Urban, Electro, Club Classics, New Hits, Tropical rhythms and Latin elements always blended in a credible way like only few pros can do.

The Hip Hop DJ that broke Reggaeton in Europe a few years back has now moved to the next level, spinning/producing his own unique sound dubbed by himself as “Urban Dance Music”. A sort of House meets Urban ..spiced up with everything in between!

First with the Afro-RnB single "Out of Control", then with follow-up Latin Urban single “Noche Europea” and now with the new Urban Dance single “Let Loose” featuring Grammy winner Fatman Scoop, Mesta is constantly breaking new styles: DJs spin records, real DJs break them. DJ Mesta breaks trends.

DJ Mesta is currently spinning at Banus, Skyclub and Bellagio clubs in Turin, Italy.
